New Possibilities of the Laboratory

State-of-the-Art equipment for the analysis of the steel grade and chemical composition was purchased for the Plant NDT Laboratory.

Non-Destructive Test Laboratory of Omsk Electromechanical Plant is attested by the Siberian Centre of Research and Engineering Support of Industrial, Environmental and Energy Safety and has equipment for steel structure tests with ultrasound, visual and measurement methods. Currently the list of measuring devices including ultrasonic flaw-detection device and caliper, photometer, tensile-testing machine and visual measurement devices was extended due to the  purchase of the modern spectrometer.

“MCA emission spectrometer is designed for the analysis of metals and alloys during the input control of the materials and for holding quick analysis of steel chemical composition", – says the manager of QC Dept.  Ms. Tatyana Sitnikova. – “In the future, when hot-dip galvanizing shop is commissioned, the spectrometer will also enable performing incoming zinc quality control”.

Omsk EMP Laboratory performs quality control at each stage of the production cycle – from  the rolled steel and components’ input control to finished product acceptance, check of its package and loading.

“We monitor the processes of cutting, assembly, bending, cleaning, labeling, check the continuity of the rolled sheets, quality of the weld connections and anticorrosion coating”, – comments Ms. Tatyana Sitnikova. – We plan to get the laboratory attested, particularly, for holding quick analysis of the steel chemical. Besides, we plan pass the accreditation for the test of not only construction elements but also pipelines”.

Today Omsk Electromechanical Plant is capable of manufacturing max. 15,000 tons steel structures per year. The Company core activity area is the manufacture of steel supports of the overhead power transmission lines, including joist-web steel supports and narrow-base supports on the Company’s own designs.
